This vent is braced very substantialy to the wall, all of the pipes that come out of a wall or go into a wall are heavier gauge metal for the first couple feet, the overhead pipe is the cheapest i could find.

Vent insulated with foam on a turnbuckle to seal it to the wall tight

A one hundred and twenty dollar 12" fan, used a lot of years, I know I need to put in a sealed unit for three hundred or so, when this quits I will go the safe route and put the good one in. In the last picture you saw the hinges welded to a piece of steel, wasn't any studs to lag screw to, so I used the plate for strength, small lag screws through 7/16 osb.

Upper vent shroud drops right down, slick as a whistle.

Thats a piece of vinyl with a magnet, when the shroud is down wrap that once around the pipe pop the magnet on it, it's fast and better than turnbuckles or clamps. When you turn the vent on you can see it pull the vinyl tight to the pipe.
