There are a lot of sheet metal screws. I did a rough count and it has about 175 per side, so that's 350 total sheet metal screws to do the pans. Now you're thinking that's a lot of welding for those holes. Those are new pans and they're pretty thick. This welding will go quick when I put it on the rotisserie after I have everything spot welded in.


This is the underside and I used a feeler gauge to check. Even though you can't see in the pictures, these pans are tight all the way without a lot of pounding on them. When you start these, make sure you have enough overlap on the edges on the back and the front. Once you have the pan in position, put a few sheet metal screws around the rocker panel, probably about a half dozen. Now, the first nine inches down into the pan from the rocker panel, these sheet metal screws are a half inch apart. Once I hit the bottom they varied between 1-1/4" and 2 to 3 inches apart. When I get below the center hump where it starts to go up again, they will wind up about a half inch apart again. I measured them.


I tried to get a clear picture of the sheet metal screw box but it didn't turn out. These are hex head sheet metal screws number 12 x 1/2 inch long. I use a 1/8" drill bit. I run them down with a 3/8 air rachet, tighten them up with a 1/4" drive socket so I don't strip them out, and you can tighten them down really good.


These pans are made in Taiwan and they fit pretty decent. I bought them from Browns here in Two Rivers and I don't know where they got them.


Here is the tag on them. To sum this up, a regular body shop would go out of business doing this, because of the time involved. It seems like a lot of holes and a lot of welding but with an air rachet this all goes quick. I wish I had a better photo because these pans are tight all the way. One other thing.. always work from one side to the other and go in a line so you're moving all of the screws in one direction. What I'm trying to say is don't work one line all the way across, put two or three in then go to the next support then to the next, then start over again.
