I set these in here so you could see the 1/8" holes that I drilled through the support and into the floor bracket. If you look hard you can see them. I also drilled them on the other bracket then when the new pans are put in I'll chase drill them with the 1/8" drill bit then they will be in the original positions.

This is where I'm going to make my cut through both pans. Then I will butt weld those two pieces of metal together.

It's hard to see in this picture but there is a step on the other side of those sheet metal screws in the new pan. That's why I'm cutting on this side so I'll have nice flat surfaces. There is another reason for doing this, I went to a lot of trouble to put new metal in where the toe boards lapped over. I don't want to disturb this lap because it looks just like the factory.

Looking from the underside here my cut will be almost dead on where the edge is right now separating the new and old pans.

It doesn't matter where you make the cut, you will have screw holes in the new one or
the old one. If the metal in your pans is as nice as these are then it doesn't matter,
it will be easy to weld the holes shut.
I mentioned at the beginning of today's pictures that I might have too much detail for
you, so let me know if you want this much. If a couple want it, I'll continue.
