These welds look really bad because I tried to weld them with supplied air on and
holding a cut off welding helmet in my other hand. After I got the lift almost built,
I got the brain flash to put the helmet inside the hood. Boy did that work good! I
used this paper type hood for all my grinding and now probably for all my welding.
I know there's a possiblity of it catching on fire, so don't try it. But it's never
caught on fire while I was doing a lot of grinding even laying upside down in the
trunk of the car body. I'll have to look into finding a supplied air helmet that's
safe for welding, but I sure like this paper hood cause it's light.
One of the reasons for the supplied air is I'm working with galvanized pipe and the
fumes from this stuff is nasty. Just a little bit of those fumes can hurt you. So
no welding or grinding with a paper hood.

Getting it lined up using the picker.

It looks like it's setting pretty straight. I'm going to try to get some clearance for
padding later.

Aligning the side rails.
